Recognising the signs of heatstroke, keeping your home cool and finding cool places around Troinex and Geneva: our guide to a peaceful summer.
Summer brings its light, its long evenings and the pleasure of returning to the garden or the terrace. But some weeks it also brings high temperatures that our bodies find harder to cope with as we age. At the Résidence du Parc des Crêts, we believe that ageing well also means anticipating: recognising the body's signals, adapting your home and knowing the places where you can cool down. Here are our guidelines for enjoying the summer season with complete peace of mind.

A talk by Dr Christos Maragkoudakis, FMH pulmonologist: recognising sleep apnoea after 60, getting a simple diagnosis and enjoying truly restful nights again.
Sleeping well is not a luxury: it is one of the pillars of ageing well. Yet a very common sleep disorder — and one that is widely underestimated after 60 — can silently damage your nights: obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS). The good news from this talk can be summed up in one sentence: this syndrome is easy to screen for, can be diagnosed without heavy testing, and is treated better and better.
During sleep, the muscles of the throat relax. In some people, the upper airways then close repeatedly: breathing stops (apnoea) or is strongly reduced (hypopnoea) several times an hour, and the brain briefly wakes up to catch its breath — often without the sleeper even noticing.

The Résidence du Parc des Crêts is featured in the “Focus 50+ Special Senior” supplement of the Tribune de Genève, devoted to ageing well and the impact of everyday lifestyle.
It highlights the very heart of our approach: a living environment designed for longevity, where physical activity, nutrition and social connection come together to support your vitality. Residents benefit in particular from regular nutrition training sessions, to help them better balance their intake, and from care coordination provided by the residence.

A talk given at the Résidence du Parc des Crêts: why physical activity is one of the best allies for ageing well, and how to keep moving at any age.
The question is simple: can sport really help us age better? Today, we live longer than before — life expectancy has risen sharply, thanks in particular to medical progress. But another question becomes essential: are we living those extra years in good health?
The point is not merely to add years to life. Above all, we want to add life to the years. And this is precisely where physical activity plays a major role: movement acts on the body, on the brain, on mood, on independence — and even on longevity.
